United Healthcare offers all AARP Medicare plans including MedicareComplete  Yellow Figure with Red Checklist

MedicareComplete is a Medicare Advantage Plan offered by United Healthcare. The only Medicare plans approved to use the AARP brand are offered by United Healthcare.

More people are enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans insured through United Healthcare than any other company. AARP MedicareComplete may be a HMO, PPO or HMO-POS plan depending on where it is offered.

Most MedicareComplete plans include Part D coverage, although if you need a medical-only plan, you can enroll in AARP MedicareComplete Choice Essentials.

United Healthcare also offers AARP Medicare supplement insurance and AARP Medicare Rx plans.

Enrollment checklist – Prerequisites to MedicareComplete enrollment

1. Medicare Parts A and B: You must have Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B to enroll in AARP MedicareComplete. You must also continue to pay your Part B premium.

2. Service Area: To join an Advantage Plan you must live in the plan’s service area. A service area is generally defined as a County. Medicare Advantage plans are offered County-by-County. It’s possible that you may not have a MedicareComplete plan available where you live.

In addition you should know that all MedicareComplete plans are not identical. Plan benefits can vary depending on the service area. Plans referred to as MedicareComplete Choice Plans utilize a PPO network while other MedicareComplete Plans may require you to use a HMO or HMO-POS network.

When you visit the MedicareComplete website enter your zip code so that you can see available plans. Or if you are interested in all plans available in your County visit www.medicare.gov.

3. End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Pre-existing conditions are not taken into consideration with the exception of ESRD (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant). If you are already enrolled in AARP MedicareComplete and develop kidney disease you can keep your plan or if you have had a successful kidney transplant you are able to enroll.

Medicare Advantage enrollment periods

1. Annual Enrollment Period: The Annual Enrollment Period is the time to compare Medicare Advantage plans. You can join, switch or drop a Medicare Plan beginning October 15th, through December 7th. Your plan will become effective January 1st.

2. Dis-enrollment Period: If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan and would like to cancel your plan you are able to do so between January 1 through February 14. You are not allowed to switch to another Advantage Plan.

You may return to original Medicare and enroll in a stand-alone Part D Plan and may purchase a Medicare supplement if you wish (underwriting may apply).

3. Newly eligible for Medicare: You can join  MedicareComplete when you first become eligible for Medicare. Your Open Enrollment Period begins 3 months prior to the month you turn 65, the month you turn 65 and 3 months after the month you tun 65 (seven months).

If you you are eligible for Medicare prior to turning 65 due to a disability you are able to join during the 3 months before and the 3 months after your 25th month of disability.
